Lots of Lint

Rane is a fabulous gal who threw a challenge my way:
Turn dryer lint from blah to TADA!

So I've been collecting lint in this bag every time
I did the laundry.

Similar to yesterday's craft, I made more fabric balls:

Step 1: Cut circles from fabric scraps (these are old t-shirts).

Step 2: Sew a running stitch all around.

Step 3: Pull the thread so the fabric becomes a little bowl.
Stuff the "bowl" with dryer lint.

Step 4: Pull the thread all the way, knot the end &
cut the thread.

Make as many fabric balls as you need.

String them together with crochet thread,
sandwiching a gold bead in between
each fabric ball.

TADA! I've a got a statement necklace
and I hardly spent anything!

I have to point out that dryer lint is flammable.
I know you won't be cooking, grilling or dancing around
a bonfire with this necklace around you, but do take
extra care!

  1. WOW!!! Now that is really something. I saw a long while back a statue of people made out of dryer lint, but what you've made here... Now that's practical use of a usually unwanted item! I love it, Claire!

  8. Such a cute idea! I bet my 9 year old daughter would love to do this as a project this summer!
gotta start saving! I had saved some before and then gave it to my 4 year old. It was all kinds of colors, so he used school glue and glued it to a piece of card board and made a "painting" he had a blast and in the end it really looked lovely. That was months ago and he still has it on his wall. I love craft supplies that are free. He took hours to make it too... so much better than in front of the tv for those same hours. Cant wait till tomorrow! My eyes are peeled and waiting!

  11. Welcome to my blog Alexandra & Julia! I love those two names :) Congrats on your blog and I'll make sure to check it out often. Hooray for chicks who recycle! I have to say, like most bloggers, I'm a one-woman-band doing the writing, styling, editing and photography...so if there are times when my lighting's too dark or I don't make sense at all...sorry, my bad :)
