DIY Easter Basket

Easter is coming up on April 20. In the past, I've made some Easter crafts such as decorating Easter eggs with decoupage and rubber stamps, Easter bunny cake toppers, Easter bunny headbands, and shirts stenciled with Easter rabbits...TADA!

Today, let's make another Easter craft.

Let's turn this empty yogurt container from blah to TADA!

I'm finding inspiration from these Easter baskets made of fabric.

Here are a few more cute Easter baskets ideas.

I painted the yogurt container with acrylic paint using a medium-sized paint brush. The goal is to cover all the branding and to get a clean, even finish. It'll take about three to five coats, with some drying time in between each coat.

I found this thick grosgrain ribbon in my stash. It matches the color of the yogurt container.

Cut the ribbon into two strips of equal length and attach these to the painted yogurt container using a glue gun

Paint on the bunny's face using white acrylic paint. Don't forget the whiskers and lashes, but you can use googly eyes or pompoms if you have them.

The ribbon handles look like the bunny's ears!

They serve as sturdy handles, too. All that's left is to fill the basket with Easter eggs or Easter candy.

And that is how I turned an empty yogurt container from blah to TADA!

A Basket in Bloom

Easter is this Sunday. And if you're into egg hunts and Easter baskets, I have a handful of ideas just for you.

This is today's inspiration.

I'll give this empty yogurt container a make-over.

Here's a collection of varying shades of pink paper gathered from gift wrapping and package stuffing. A ribbon, clear tape, scissors, and glue (white glue and hot glue) are the other materials we need.

Cut the paper into different sized petals.
Make sure there's at least a pair of each size.

Wrap the yogurt container in a sheet of plain paper to cover the busy design. Secure the paper to the container with tape or glue. Then, one by one, add the "petals".

Add them alternately, keeping in place with clear tape, then reinforcing with a little bit of glue.

When attaching the "petals", don't stretch them too much. Loosen them so the top folds will look natural.

TADA! An Easter basket that resembles a rose!

Glue on some ribbon which becomes the handle.

Fill it with Easter eggs collected from the hunt.

Making a basket is all part of the fun!

Inspiration: Cherries

Happy Monday!
Today, let me take you on a little road trip.

We're going to Terhune Orchards in
Princeton, New Jersey.

We're going cherry picking!

If you've never gone fruit picking before,
we'll need to pay a little fee &
we each get a bucket.

Here are the many cherry varieties available.

Look at the trees!
They're overflowing with the
reddest, ripest cherries!

There are yellow & orange ones, too.

I think I picked about 2 pounds.

Wash them & they're ready to eat!

But what happens if you've got too many cherries?
Turn that blah dilemma into a TADA!

Here are some great breakfast ideas
that are tasty, healthy and you'll
get to use up those cherries
rather quickly.

Add them to a bowl of muesli.

Pair it with some warm oatmeal.

Or use it as a topping for your yogurt & granola.

Please come back tomorrow for
more ideas inspired by cherries!

Candies Galore!

Halloween...that day when kids are allowed to take candies from strangers. And a lot of candy that will be, requiring them to carry a bag for all that loot! Yesterday, we made a bag from an old tank top. Today, we'll make a bucket out of these:

An empty ice cream container and yogurt tub...blah!

Clean it. Dry it. Cover it with felt (attached with a glue gun).

Tada! Easy, homemade candy bucket!

Have a great weekend everyone!
