Animal Kingdom

Happy Friday everyone! Do you have empty jars lurking around your house? Make them useful and turn them from blah to TADA!

Here's a blah coffee jar.

I cleaned it inside & out. Then I covered the lids with felt to disguise the brand & make the jar more decorative.

Then I glued on this adorable froggie!

And this cute lil' chickee!

Use these brand new jars for food gifts. Fill them with candy and use them as prizes for kiddie parties or baby showers. Envelope a gift in tissue and drop it into the jar...who needs a box & gift wrap?! The possibilities are endless!

Have an excellent weekend you guys!

Souvenir Made Simple

Snow globes are a popular travel souvenir. But they can be quite expensive and require extra care when transported from your vacation destination to home.

Why not make your own using an old food jar?

I got this little peacock from a craft fair in Brazil. You could easily purchase small objects or pick them up for free (ex. shells, rocks, etc.).

Attach your souvenir of choice to the inner lid with super glue. Fill the jar with water. Add some glitter and a few drops of glycerin. The glycerin will allow the glitter (or "snow") to float around the jar when the jar is shaken. Screw the lid tightly and decorate the outside of the jar as you see fit.

Flip it over and TADA! -- your very own snow globe!

Beauties for the Bathroom

Well, hello there! If you've visited my blog before, you know that I'm a big fan of jars. I've recycled them here, here and here. There are just so many ways to re-use jars! Case in point:

This empty glass container.

Add some of these funky frames...

...And TADA! You've got something groovy to use
as
storage for bath essentials like Q-tips...

...or cotton balls!

Band Together

All this week, I'm giving new life to old jars.

These are individual-sized fruit preserve jars.
I saved them from a gift basket I got a few Christmases ago.

Add a magnet at the bottom;
secure with hot glue.

Fill it with commonly used items like rubber bands.

Then attach it to your fridge.
TADA!
It works as a magnet & rubber band holder!
No more of those,
"Where did I put the
rubber bands again?"

Turning Jars into Stars!

I know it's a busy week for most of you, so I'd like to thank you for stopping by my blog today. This week, jars are the stars of recycling!

I scored this tiny jar of jam at a restaurant. I love this brand of jam and I adore the bottle & checkered lid! When it's all empty, I clean it up & turn it from blah to TADA!:

I made my own lip balm and used the jar
as a container.

{Find the tutorial here.}

Make a few extras to share with your girl friends!

Springtime, Gift Time

All this week, we transformed different boxes
from blah to TADA!

Before bidding you a "Happy Weekend", here's one more:

Gift boxes like this one (given away for free during the holidays)
takes away the pain of gift wrapping.

But what if you want to re-use the box but the gift inside
is not from Victoria Secret?

Unless it's really the intention, we don't want to deceive
the recipient, now do we?
That would be a blah!

Just call in a few butterflies to help you out.

They're made of scrap paper & glitter.

And they cover the logo quite well.

As an added bonus, the person who receives the gift
can recycle the box for her stuff

or use it as a gift box once again.

Enjoy your weekend!

Destined for the Desk

Before throwing away those boxes used to package food, personal care items or stuff you received in the mail, can I encourage you to get a little crafty with them? All this week, I've been giving boxes a little face lift. Yes, I like to play plastic surgeon once in a while. A little nip. A little tuck. Using scissors & a trusty glue gun. Wanna play?

I'm sure you have blah boxes like these in your pantry.

Give them a little nip.
A little tuck.

Glue them together.
Dress them up in a fashionable print.

TADA! A dainty desk organizer!
Use it for invitations & greeting cards.

You can use it to group together bills & receipts, too.

See you tomorrow!
